Emm documentation
Emm is an issue tracker with a macOS desktop app and a standalone command-line tool for macOS and Linux. These guides accompany the October 19, 2026 update, including labels, multiple Notes windows, and project image sharing.
Vocabulary
- Project — a workspace for teams and issues, stored in a folder containing
emm.db. - Team — a group of related issues inside a project.
- Issue — one item of work, identified by its number (for example 42 or #42).
- Notes — your Markdown files, opened and edited in Emm.
Basic work on your own computer needs no account. Sharing a project or Notes is a separate, explicit action.
Task guides
- Getting started — open Emm, create or open a project, and write your first issue.
- Issues — teams, priority, status, finding work, and who does what.
- Notes — opening, creating, editing, and linking Markdown files.
- Sharing — signing in, invitations, opening projects, and sharing Notes.
- Agents and CLI — command-line installation, help, and reading an issue from the terminal.
Get the app from the Emm download page and the CLI from the CLI download page.
